Player Development Program Ages 5-8
Mondays – time to be confirmed
At Fremantle Football Club (FCFC) we have incorporated physical literacy into our grassroots football. Players will learn to master Fundamental movement skills such as twisting, turning, changing of direction, jumping, bounding, skipping etc. These can be done with or without a ball. They will also learn to master fundamental football skills such as dribbling, kicking, controlling, and passing. Each session will last for approximately 45 minutes which will include Fundamental movements/games and small sided games (2v2/3v3). Our aim is to allow young players to be active, creative and to have fun in a positive, safe environment which will allow them to grow a love of the game while mastering the ball. Children’s developmental timetables cannot be accelerated, steps cannot be missed and stages cannot be skipped. We want to allow children time to grow and mature.
“Physical literacy can be described as the motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge and understanding to value and take responsibility for engagement in physical activities for life.” – Dr Whitehead, International Physical Literacy Foundation
Player Development Program Ages 9-12
Fremantle City Girls Centre of Excellence aims to provide players with a holistic approach to their development in a challenging and competitive environment to help them achieve their full individual potential. Our aim is to provide a safe, fun learning environment where the focus is on the player’s individual skill instilling discipline, increasing confidence, decision making and problem solving with a player-centred approach.
Player-centred coaching actively engages players in their own learning and can lead to greater understanding, stronger retention of skills and developing the player as an athlete and as a whole person based on the player’s needs and goals.
